Meet the Dentist
Dr. Theresa Y. Crawley is a native of Virginia Beach, VA, but as a Marine Corps brat grew up all over the United States. After graduating from high school in California, she came to Fredericksburg to attend Mary Washington College, where she earned a B.S. degree in biology. She is also a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, where she earned an M.S. degree in anatomy, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She was the first woman dentist in Fredericksburg, beginning her practice in 1983.
Dr. Crawley is a past president of the local Rappahannock Valley Dental Society, and holds membership in the Richmond Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. She has spent countless hours in continuing education in order to stay abreast of current trends in dentistry.
Dr. Crawley is one of the founding volunteers of the Moss Free Dental Clinic, and still volunteers on a quarterly basis. In 2000, she received the “Volunteer Dentist of the Year” award. She has mentored numerous students (both high school and college level) with internships in her office, as well as at the Moss Clinic.
Dr. Crawley’s other civic activities include the MWC Alumni Association (past president 1996-98; winner of the 2002 Service Award and the Washington Medallion in 2005); University of Mary Washington Board of Visitors (2012-present); University of Mary Washington Foundation Board (1993-present, currently serving as Secretary); and a former board member of the Rappahannock United Way. She is an active member of the Presbyterian Church in downtown Fredericksburg, serving on the Endowment committee and the Sanctuary Guild. She cooks regularly for the Wednesday night dinner program, and the Saturday Community Dinner.
In addition to dentistry, Dr. Crawley is very interested in fitness and nutrition. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, working out, reading, cooking, boating, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
